By now you’ve probably seen smoked cream cheese making the rounds on TikTok. If you haven’t, it’s exactly what it sounds like. A brick of cream cheese that’s seasoned and smoked. Obviously, we had to try it.
What do you need?
First things first, you need a smoker. We smoked our cream cheese on a Traeger Ironwood 650 using hickory pellets. You can also use this stovetop kettle smoker from Nordicware. Per TikTok, you can use your oven, but we don’t recommend it since you won’t get that smoked flavor.
Next, you’ll need an 8-ounce brick of cream cheese, some olive oil, and your favorite seasoning. For our savory brick, we used Traeger Veggie Rub which is a blend of garlic, paprika, salt, chili pepper, and other spices. For the sweet brick, we mixed up some cinnamon and sugar.
Put your cream cheese on some tin foil, and brush all sides with olive oil. Then cover the cream cheese in seasoning and smoke it for 2 to 3 hours at 200-250 degrees. We smoked it at 250 for a full three hours, and it was perfect.
Once you remove it from your smoker, serve immediately with your favorite crackers. We used graham crackers and even added some chocolate drizzle to our sweet cream cheese which felt like a gourmet s’more.
