A whipped coffee on a table

These Are The Five TikTok Recipes You Need To Try Out

Just a few weeks ago, I remember walking into my local grocery store and seeing the cheese section out of feta. FETA. How could a store be completely sold out of it?

The answer: TikTok

The short-form video platform surged during the pandemic. It allowed those of us relegated to our couches, kitchen tables and one bedroom apartments (yes, we shuddered too!) to escape quarantining and social distancing with humor, community, dance challenges, and, yes, even some of the strangest recipes you may have ever seen, to help pass the time.

The best news for you though? You don’t need to be on the app to get some of the most buzzed about recipes!

Here are five of our favorite TikTok recipes we think you need to try at home. Even if they aren’t quite as viral anymore, they’re still delicious.

Dalgona Coffee

You might’ve heard Daglona Coffee referred to as “Whipped Coffee” and this is one of our favorites. To make this fluffy drink, you’ll need to combine your choice of instant coffee, sugar and boiling water. Whisk the ingredients until the mixture creates fluffy peaks. Get your favorite cup, drop in some ice, add your choice of milk, then top it off with your mix. If you’re looking to change up your ice coffee routine this may be the perfect drink for you. Cloud Bread

If you’ve had enough banana bread, this spin might be just what you need. A twist on the already popular bread trend, Cloud Bread requires the baker to use only three ingredients and add color (if desired). The color and fluffiness of the finished product surprisingly remind people of a childhood favorite — cotton candy. All you’ll need is 3 egg whites, 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, 4 teaspoons of cornstarch and food coloring. Bake the batter at 300 degrees for about 25 minutes and, ”voila!” You have conquered another TikTok food trend. Get the recipe here.

Baked Feta Pasta

This recipe calls for cherry tomatoes, one block of feta cheese, garlic, olive oil, basil, and your favorite pasta. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees, combine the cherry tomatoes, garlic, a feta cheese block, and seasoning, and put it in the oven for 30 minutes. Once the time is up press your roasted garlic, and mix the cheese into the rest of the dish. Finally, add your favorite cooked pasta and fresh basil. This simple dish is a quick and delicious meal — perfect for end of a long day. Get the recipe here.

Tortilla Trend

The next uncomplicated but customizable trend requires tortillas and your favorite things! You make one slit into a single tortilla and fold it into four sections. Then, add your choice of ingredients to each quarter, fold, and place on a grill to create this new type of panini. Perfect for anyone looking to change their usual lunch routine to something a little more fun. The recipe works with burgers, breakfast items, and even desserts. We are fans of this chicken tortilla recipe, which you can find here.

Birria Trend

Finally, a meal to spice up your dinner night rotation — Birria Quesa Tacos. This authentic Mexican dish will take a little more of your time, but the final product had us drooling. You’ll start by cooking the meat in a seasoned soup. Then, blend parts of the soup with additional seasoning. Next, add the blended ingredients back to the soup with pureed tomatoes, simmer for two more hours. Then we have the core part of this tasty meal. Plus, we’ll let you in on a little secret — you can use a slow cooker to avoid spending a few hours in the kitchen! Get the recipe here.
