Here’s what’s on the list this year:
Klare Melk Truffle Gouda: Exclusively for Whole Foods Market, Dutch Cheese Makers has crafted an exquisite, rich and flavorful raw milk Gouda that’s generously laced with truffles. Its flavor features decadent, velvety notes of sweet cream and butter blend with the truffles’ earthy aromatics.
Uplands Pleasant Ridge Reserve: This aged, alpine-style cheese is a delightful experience. Its semi-firm texture provides the right mouthfeel to support a complex flavor profile of fresh milk, nuts and grass.
Neal’s Yard Dairy Keen’s Cheddar: Since 1899, the Keen family has been perfecting their farmstead, raw-milk cheddar on the picturesque Moorhayes Farm in Somerset, England. This rich cheese is dense, yet creamy. It comes hand-bandaged and larded.
Cellars at Jasper Hill Gin Washed Harbison: A lot goes into preparing this award-winning, best in class cheese that you’ll only find at Whole Foods Market. For example, the bark it’s packaged in is soaked in spent juniper from gin production. This helps give the soft-ripened cheese a woodsy and sweet flavor profile with balanced tones of mustard, citrus and vegetal finish.
Quadrello di Bufala: This washed-rind cheese is made from creamy, open textured water buffalo milk. The flavor presents as slightly sweet with refreshing grassiness and balanced saltiness. It may show a pink or oatmeal color near the rind, adding to its elegance. Produced in Italy.
Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog: Behold the artisan cheese that led the way for soft-ripened goat cheese in America. Savor the buttermilk and fresh cream, complemented with floral notes, herbaceous overtones and a clean citrus finish. The flavor of Humboldt Fog continues to intensify as it matures — a dream come true.
MonS Mary dans les Étoiles: Get festive with this Whole Foods Market–exclusive goat cheese that goes big on rich, earthy aroma and has bright flavors of fresh grass and tangy citrus. That’s not all, though. This soft-ripened Chabichou style cheese is coated in ash with a delightful geotrichum rind. Produced in France.
Rogue Creamery Enraptured Cherries Jubilee: Created exclusively for Whole Foods Market from international award-winning cheesemaker David Gremmels. You’ll want to round out your cheese plate with this unique, flavorful blue cheese made with organic wine-soaked cherries. Rich and buttery with notes of berry and currants.
Corcuera Campo de Montalban: The Corcuera family has artfully created a high quality, semi-firm cheese by dedicating both sheep and goat’s milk to its production. It’s aged for 100 days, resulting in a mild and smooth flavor, with notes of nuts and a balanced acidity.
Cowgirl Creamery Organic Mt Tam: Celebrate the season with all the lusciousness you expect from a triple cream cheese, with a unique core that upholds its texture. It’s like Brie’s quirky Californian cousin, with flavors of salted butter, cream and white mushrooms.
Agour Ossau-Iraty PDO: Twice awarded Best Cheese in the World at the 2006 and 2011 World Cheese Awards. Will its smooth, semi-firm texture and buttery flavor with a black olive and hazelnut finish win over your party guests as well? We’re guessing it absolutely will. Produced in France.
Kaltbach Cave-Aged Le Gruyère AOP: We had to finish this with a showstopper. It features silo-free raw cow’s milk aged in the sandstone caves of Kaltbach. Let that sink in for a moment. Then take a bite and sink into its deeply full-flavored notes of tangy fruit and classic nuttiness. AOP Swiss perfection that’s sure to impress.
