Wine Can Chicken


  • 1 can white wine of your choice

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • a few sprigs fresh thyme

  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

  • one 4- to 5–pound whole chicken


  • Preheat oven to 350-degrees
  • Open wine can, insert garlic and thyme into can
  • In a bowl, mix butter with mustard to creamy consistency
  • Apply butter/mustard mixture generously to the skin of the chicken, covering top and bottom
  • With the chicken standing up, insert the wine can into the cavity of the chicken
  • On the lowest oven rack, bake chicken for 1 hour and 10 minutes
